Summary/Abstract |
The issue of terrorism has been a significant source of influence on the relationship between Iran and the U.S. since the Islamic Revolution. Iran's friendship with extremist groups that are designated as terrorist groups by the U.S. State Department is seriously challenging America's foreign policy. This article attempts to explore the prospect of confrontations on the issue of terrorism between Iran and the U.S. through a detailed analysis of their different interpretations and mutual recognitions of terrorism and through an in-depth analysis of the measures each party has taken regarding this confrontation. This article argues that the confrontation between Iran and the U.S. regarding the issue of terrorism is not strictly about terrorism. Rather, it is also about the conflicts of policies that result from different security interests and political values. Resolving the issue of terrorism depends on the reconciliation of the relationship between Iran and the U.S. Without mutual trust between the two nations, Iran will continue to support extremist groups in order to increase its influence against the external and internal pressures it is currently under, and the U.S. will continue to contain Iran's regional ambitions and seek changes in its behavior.

Summary/Abstract |
Despite the unceasing efforts of the international community to halt North Korea’s
nuclear ambitions, North Korea’s nuclear development and missile technology
have aggressively progressed over time. Why did the efforts fail and what would
be the new direction to fix the problem, if necessary? To answer these central
questions, this paper attempts to analyze the problems of sanctions on North Korea
and assess North Korea’s nuclear development and capability. This paper suggests
that a recalibration of policy measures, including a dual–track strategy that, on the
one hand leads to internal change in the North, while on the other, results in strong
external pressure, continues to be significant for the ultimate resolution of North
Korea’s nuclear quandaries. If left alone, the nuclear situation in North Korea may
likely shift from the previously limited problem of denuclearization on the Korean
peninsula to the broader global concern of nonproliferation.

Summary/Abstract |
Iran-China relations have strengthened over the past decades. From an economic point of view, Iran has been an attractive destination for the Chinese businesses that are in search of new markets to expand the scope of their economic activities through trade, investment, and partnership. China has at the same time offered Iran a valuable alternative to the western economies, which gradually (and partly due to the economic sanctions imposed on Iran) decreased their level of engagement with Iran. Moreover, the relationships between China and Iran have expanded gradually to military and security cooperation. This paper will examine the development of various aspects of Sino-Iranian relations.
