Summary/Abstract |
The incidents in the Depsang Plain, near the Karakoram Pass in April or more recently, in Chumar in South Ladakh, are the continuance of Nehru's blind spot for China. There is today a huge difference of 'perception' on the location of the Line of Actual Control which over the years has been moving towards the South and the West. The 1959 LAC was indeed far more advantageous for India than the present LAC.

Summary/Abstract |
China suffers from a superiority complex. This is not new. Genetically, it must have been there for ages, but in recent years due to the rapid economic development, the tremendous advances in the defense field (including asymmetric warfare), the awe with which Western nations look at China and events like the Olympic Games in Beijing, this complex has been greatly exacerbated.

Summary/Abstract |
Two new factors have appeared on the Tibetan political scene after the recent leadership change in China. First, the 'spiritualisation' of politics: paradoxically, the atheist Chinese Communist Party (CCP), also known as The Communist Party of China (CPC) seems increasingly interested in 'spiritual' matters. The CCP has started promoting reincarnated Lamas, known in China as 'Living Buddhas', in a big way. The purpose is to prepare for the post-Dalai Lama era. The second new development is the emergence of a 'Tibet Gang'. A string of officials who have been posted to or connected with Tibet at one point or another in their career have now joined the Politburo, the government or the top rung of the Party. This article will study these developments and look at the possible implications.

Summary/Abstract |
When Steve Jobs passed away, experts debated as to why China did not produce its own Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or Mark Zuckerberg? One contributor to Forbes explained that the emergence of such 'innovative' entrepreneurs "does not blend well with China's culture of Confucian conformity to existing norms. Throughout China's history, the established order saved little respect for inventors, entrepreneurs, and business pioneers." There is some truth in this, but the Confucian conformity added to the Communist bureaucracy and the supreme importance of the Party's diktats is today balanced by a tremendous will to 'innovate' in order to materialise the Chinese Dream. The Indian Dream has unfortunately not even been formulated as yet. It is a great pity because the ingredients (brains) are very much present.

Summary/Abstract |
How to deal with China has been a problem for the Indian diplomacy trom the day the People's Liberation Army entered Eastern Tibet in October 1950. South Block (both the Ministry of External Attairs and Detence) has otten been on the wrong side at history, especially during the bhai-bhai era, What can be done to give a tresh impetus to India's engagement with Beijing, while dealing in a more appropriate way with China?

Summary/Abstract |
The Corridor is, first and foremost, a vital investment for Beijing, which is slowly buying the strategic link, Beijing will soon control its new dominion, Pakistan. For India, it will be game changer as it will then directly face China on two fronts, the Northern and the Western. The Modi government should ponder about this.It is a new great but not easy game. What looks like a masterstroke on paper could turn into a nightmare for both China and Pakistan, unless India is taken onboard. But at a time Pakistan continues to fuel unrest in the Kashmir valley with the silent consent of China, how can Islamabad get New Delhi's blessings for such a gigantic project? Today, China and Pakistan may be gambling, but China has no choice but to understand India's concerns on this issue.
