Grant, Wyn Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract The Department of Government at Essex University provided a favourable environment for the development of Anthony King's work. While his primary interest was the UK, his intellectual interests were far broader in scope and informed by comparative insights. His key work was on political leadership, but he also made crucial contributions on other issues such as ungovernability. He had a particular concern with the quality of government, reflected in the Blunders book he wrote with Ivor Crewe.

Decolonising the Curriculum: an Introduction / Grant, Wyn   Journal Article
Grant, Wyn Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Academic life should be about challenging orthodoxies and assumptions, looking critically at the world. Knowledge production has a value in itself, but it is also about using our enhanced understanding to enable us to change the world for the better. Unfortunately, sometimes the parameters within which knowledge is constructed and analysed can become an obstacle to change. Inertia and at best, incremental change, are all too often features of course design and reading lists.

Two Contrasting Constituencies in the Heart of England / Grant, Wyn ; Scarlett, Sally   Journal Article
Grant, Wyn Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract This article compares two parliamentary constituencies in Warwickshire: one which might be expected to be Conservative but is held by Labour, and the other, a Labour seat for over fifty years, but now held by the Conservatives. Constituency level analyses permit a more fineā€grained analysis of electoral trends, taking account of demographic factors otherwise being overlooked. Labour needs to be able to appeal to the aspirational voters moving into Nuneaton.
