Modern soldier systems are becoming more and more sophisticated, with an increasing demand for reliable and flexible power. Batteries alone are pushed to their limits. Soldiers have to carry an abundance of spare batteries to provide sufficient power for multiday mission scenarios, increasing the weight tremendously and wasting volume they could use to carry water, food or ammunition.
