Alteration of Article 370: Constitutional Questions and International Implications / Gupta, Alok Kumar   Journal Article
Gupta, Alok Kumar Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Imran Khan the Prime Minister of Pakistan was flying high and had developed a tinge of aggressiveness in his diplomatic offensives after Trump’s offer of ‘mediation’ on Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), where Donald Trump, the American President allegedly also quoted Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India that he too has asked for mediation. While the Trump’s statement led to a furore in India, Imran in Pakistan started preparing ground for securing international backing on Kashmir. However, he never anticipated that Modi’s Government would drop a ‘bombshell’ by rendering Articles 370 and 35A infructuous. Pakistan used this as an opportunity in connivance with China to take the issue to the United States Security Council (UNSC).

Gupta, Alok Kumar Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Self-reliant India campaign is the vision of ‘New India’ envisaged by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main objective of the campaign is to make the country and its citizens independent and self-reliant in all senses. Thus, the Indian Prime Minister announced a Rs.20 lakh crore economic package under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to aid India and to help the country come out of the Corona Virus driven health and economic crisis on May 12, 2020. India could only emerge out of the economic crisis perpetuated by the pandemic by becoming self-reliant i.e., Atmanirbhar. It thus became a mantra (hymn) accorded to the nation by Prime Minister as a catalyst of economic development amidst and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Auditing COP28: Optimism and Pessimism / Gupta, Alok Kumar   Journal Article
Gupta, Alok Kumar Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Overall the COP28 presents a mixed outcome but not encouraging or one about which people across the globe may feel happy. The final agreement included loopholes, and deferred decisions on different significant issues. The Agreement also could be marked at relatively low levels of funding pledges compared to what is needed to make progress as the incidence of global warming increases. The outcomes of COP28 may be slow and less on ambitions, still such multilateral efforts and processes are necessary for making incremental steps in the right direction in future. COP28 was a major challenge before the oil producer countries as they are solely dependent upon the same.

BRICS bank: work in progress amidst group’s salience and economic diplomacy / Gupta, Alok Kumar   Article
Gupta, Alok Kumar Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract International economic order has always remained biased and discriminatory on account of ‘balance of trade’ being always in favour of developed world. The difference between the developed and the underdeveloped countries grew sharper with the rolling of years in the post-second world war era. While the developed countries made further progress, the condition of under-developed countries did not show any improvement. Consequently, the hiatus between the developed and the under-developed countries went on increasing. The developing countries attributed this to the prevalent international economic order established with the instrumentalities of General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GFTT), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank or IBRD).

Changing contours of India’s foreign policy: overhauling or over-exaggeration / Gupta, Alok Kumar   Article
Gupta, Alok Kumar Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Undoubtedly, Modi’s international engagements were a continuation of India’s foreign policy under the preceding UPA government led by Congress. But he injected a new energy into the relationships with neighbours like Bhutan and Nepal, and major powers like China and the US. The present political leadership has made clear to the immediate neighbourhood that India is ready to share its prosperity because the policy makers understand peace could be established only through prosperity and would enhance constructive engagement and a more integrated and inter-connected sub-continent. Modi rather than making India a marginal receiver of the dispensation of the international system has lifted India’s status as one of the dispensation of the international system.

0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Commissioning of INS Vikrant is yet another feather in India’s naval cap and a galloping march towards enhancing its maritime power and security of its maritime assets. It will certainly add to its domestic shipbuilding capacity with enriched experience in ship-building. May be the next carrier will be delivered at a much faster pace. India has already conceived a concept for building second carrier which could be in 65,000 tonne range, matching the size of the UK’s HMS Queen Elizabeth or China’s second carrier, the Shandong. The commissioning of the indigenous aircraft carrier is proof of India’s technical acumen and engineering skills.

Concept of Hindu Dharma: Its Contours and Complexities / Gupta, Alok Kumar   Journal Article
Gupta, Alok Kumar Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Dharma as a concept is unfathomable, and that is the beauty and gravity of the term. Its meaning depends on the context in which it is used. One may equate the term with kindred words like: duties, rights, conduct, behaviour, morality, righteousness, religion, goodness, justice, laws, virtue, right to rule, to name a few; yet its meaning is all encompassing but incomplete. It should rather be understood in terms of harmonious achievement of different aspects and needs of one’s life which may include artha, kama, moksha, yet it is nowhere to be related or limited with the meaning of religion.
