Summary/Abstract Indonesia's relations with China began to improve in 1998. This paper argues that recent improvements in bilateral relations have been primarily the function of changes in Indonesia's domestic politics and China's policy toward Southeast Asia, which contributed to the creation of an atmosphere of trust and comfort in Jakarta's re-engagement with China.

Summary/Abstract The major political shift in India occurred in 2014 General Elections with BJP emerging as the largest party and Narendra Modi becoming Prime Minister of India. The first unprecedented and the most appreciating step Mr. Modi had taken that of inviting the heads of the SAARC countries for the sworn-in-ceremony showing India’s solidarity with the neighbours and also indicating the establishment of more cordial bilateral relations. Sri Lankan then President Rajapaksa was also one of the guests who attended the ceremony with high expectations.
