In a series of 1990s simulations, the LCS concept was born; the Strait of Hormuz was the hypothetical scenario, and 'the fight against sea and shore' became the mantra.

Summary/Abstract |
New Delhi: Atlas Elektronik's plans in India seem to have hit a speed breaker called the Hindu rate of growth. While there is potential and promise, the movement is inordinately slow and the answers are hard to come by. So effectively, the India office of Atlas, launched with much optimism a few months ago, is currently doing spot-running, with several programmes in various stages of 'expression of interest', 'request of information', request for proposal', 'technical discussions' and so on. While it is difficult to sustain optimism in such trying circumstances, Atlas Elektronik India Pvt Ltd is manned by a group of seasoned professionals who have dug themselves in for a long haul. "We are here for a long time," says CEO, Atlas Elektronik India Pvt Ltd, Khalil Rahman matter-of-factly. "We have to look beyond prevalent pessimism," he adds for good measure.

Summary/Abstract |
The article offers information on the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine, SSBN(X), which the U.S. Navy should redesign, which is set to begin retiring in 15-years. According to the Deputy Assistant Chief of U.S. Naval Operations for Integration of Capabilities and Resources, James McCarthy, it is difficult to figure out how one-third of the shipbuilding budget could go to a single ship-a-year program for a decade, and the rest of the shipbuilding will survive while building SSBN(X).

Summary/Abstract |
This article considers disputes the Royal Navy and Coastal Command had with Bomber Command, the Air Staff and supporters of strategic bombing over what was the 'proper' use of air power. The disputes centred on the provision of air support for the anti-submarine campaign in the Battle of the Atlantic. This article will argue that the balance was too much in favour of strategic bombing at the expense of the security of the Atlantic convoys, but that when corporate culture and grand strategy are considered, the reasoning behind such an imbalance becomes easier to comprehend.

Maritime patrol aircraft's (MPA) role has evolved in the late 1990s to early 21st century from long range patrol ASW and ASuW (anti Surface warfare) to modern requirements and new kind of missions that have imposed a transition from submarine killer to a multi mission capable aircraft characterized by a remarkable flexibility, which depends on its mission systems, software sensors and communications. An increasing number of countries are looking to up grade their current fleet of MPA to reflect tare looking to procure next generation MPA altogether to replace their older aircraft currently in service
