Summary/Abstract |
OCTOBER 3, 1990 is recorded in the history of international relations and the history of Germany as the Day of German Unity. The ceremony of unification of the Federative Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic took place at midnight.
"The process of Germany's reunification, which was completed 20 years ago and to which our country made a key contribution, has paramount historical significance not only for the German people but for the whole of Europe," said in his congratulatory message to Christian Wulff and Angela Merkel Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. "I believe that the foundation of the current Russian-German strategic cooperation was laid already at that time."
