Summary/Abstract |
There are linkages between the environment and economic development. International cooperation is essential for preserving the environment. China, India and Russia each consist of a large population, a vast territory and a fast growing economy. They could work together to strengthen coordination in the field of environmental protection; establish institutional mechanisms for trilateral cooperation; and start a dialogue, share experiences and jointly train personnel on environment protection. China and Russia could work together in preventing pollution in their border river basin. Important areas for cooperation between China and India would be in research and development of technology for utilising environmentally friendly wind, bio-mass and solar energy, and in improving the energy utilisation ratio.
