India's relations with its neighbours are full of stress and confrontations as it is presumed that India's every neighbouring state seem ready to pose security threat to India. Therefore, India always remained restless in the region to protect its security interests. Moreover, India's posture in South Asia has always supposed to be disturbing among the states in the region. However, India's relations with Sri Lanka have been cordial than any other state in South Asia.

India’s recent foreign policy has been under marking a paradigmatic shift especially by proactive ‘alignment’ with the world powers especially the USA, France, Japan and others. India’s new leadership has learnt the need of new ingredients in its foreign policy with the changing circumstances of the international political equations and more importantly to accomplish its national interests in terms of economy, security and technology that emerged as pre-conditions towards becoming India as one of the leading powers in the world.

The great debate around the world amongst the scholars of the international relations has begun with the Chinese rising economic growth and its booming military power. The debate has been about whether China will be the next world hegemony? A group of scholar is supporting China as the next hegemonic power surpassing the US. However, another group of scholars slammed the arguments stating the decline of US's hegemony and arguing formidability to surpass the US's strength and power and, at present no state can compete with the US's hegemony around the world. This paper attempts to examine the probability of Chinese efforts stepping towards becoming the world hegemony with its increasing economic and military power.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought great transformation in India’s foreign policy especially by adopting the commercial and cultural diplomacy. Mr. Modi could attract the investments from the US $45 billion, Japan $35 billion, China; $28 billion and further from Canada and European countries France and Germany. Mr. Modi’s inclusive cultural diplomacy has been most fantastic which achieved higher level of appreciation. Without doubt, there is a grand ‘Modi’fication of India’s foreign policy in a very positive direction. However, Mr. Modi’s engagement with his own people in India is very much under the scanner. He seems to distance himself from the masses and getting close to the people around the world especially the Diaspora, business tycoons and technocrats and software tycoons. Due to his very busy foreign tours, he is unable to look into the domestic affairs and crisis. He has heroic appearance at the world stage, but his role in the domestic policy matters before the common masses appears to be questionable. Mr. Modi’s responsibility as the prime minister is optimum and therefore, the prevailing circumstances in India urgently need his intervention.
