Summary/Abstract |
The world has always been afflicted with conflicts of all sorts. The last two centuries have been extremely conflict-prone with persistent problems, two major world wars and many proxy wars. While wielding of power remains the prime motive of these conflicts, many of them are acts of retaliation too. Partly, it can be attributed to deficiency in the spiritual and ethical values that are much affecting the contemporary international relations. Wars are being waged for establishing the so-called democracies, overthrowing dictatorships, wars on terror, and wars to liberate people from state oppressions.

Summary/Abstract |
Almost two decades ago, India unveiled its 'looks East Policy" to enhance its trade and commercial relations with the countries of the South East Asian Region. Infact, it vigorously pursued its entry in to the regional group and by December, 2012, it did achieve much progress by taking the economic relations to further levels. From being a sectoral dialogue partner to forging free-trade agreement, India has come a long way in the pursuit of its economic interests.

Summary/Abstract |
The contemporary world is witnessing a lot of unrest as religious teachings are being misinterpreted and projecting a malicious image of different religions. Nonviolence, a great virtue that would enable us to live in peace is being relegated to the background and the religious sentiments coming to the fore in creating disorder. Various religions are being suffixed with terms such as terrorism and fundamentalism often giving an impression that these are some of the prime characteristics. No religion teaches violence; nor does it promote war. The very purpose of a religion is to guide an individual to lead a peaceful and disciplined life and engage in social good and set an exemplary model. Wars can never be holy. Wars wreak havoc and disorder.

Summary/Abstract |
Among the makers of modern India, Sardar Patel and his contributions to the nation are outstanding. As Mahatma Gandhi was preoccupied with dousing communal disharmony and Jawaharlal Nehru was voicing his views and vision to the newly born nation and the world with his landmark speech of India’s Tryst with Destiny, Patel was relentlessly working on the consolidation of India into one single unit. His spirit of service and sacrifice were par excellence written in the pages of history as unique.

Summary/Abstract |
Gandhi continues to fascinate people from all walks of life- academics, scientists, philosophers, social workers and those from civil society. The novelty of his ideas continues even after they had been forwarded a hundred years ago. In today's society, the need for revisiting Gandhian principles is being felt enormously. Perhaps the answer lies in the changing system of politics, economics, culture and also religious dimensions. That his thoughts are ever relevant needs neither mention nor elaboration. Though critics would severely disagree with this, there are views and ideas that hold true even to this day.
