Attacking Israel with genocidal intentions / Poller, Nidra   Journal Article
Poller, Nidra Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2012.
Summary/Abstract De-legitimization of the State of Israel is the current episode in a persistent genocidal project aimed at the Jews and, more profoundly, at the values inherent in Judaism and shared by civilized societies. Skirting the shame attached to anti-Semitism after the horrors of the Holocaust, contemporary advocates of the genocidal plot are given free rein to attack Jews by a combination of severe criticism of the State of Israel and well-meaning plans for its geopolitical future, i.e. the peace process. Ugly lies - the Jews stole the land from the Palestinians, Israel is an apartheid state - function like the age-old charges that justified persecution of the Jews as Christ killers. Beautiful lies - the two state solution that everyone knows - echo the proto-legalistic measures that gradually deprived European Jews of their rights, their strength, their resources and capacity to resist deportation and extermination. Americans, misinterpreting as a repetition of the 1930s the rise of violent anti-Semitism in Europe at the dawn of the twenty-first century, are unprepared to deal with a parallel rise in Muslim Brotherhood forces within the US. As brutal Islamic Jew hatred boils in an Arab-Muslim world revolting, reforming, and submitting to sharia law, the Obama administration conducts a policy of the outstretched hand and blindfolded eyes that leaves Iran free to develop the ultimate genocidal weapon. Israel is the bulwark, not only for Jews but for the free world. Clear thinking, uncompromising discourse, and resolute action - at the risk of being labelled extremist - can stop the genocidal project and, working backward, disarm the lies.

BDS message of anti-zionism, anti-semitism, and incitement to d / Fishman, Joel S   Journal Article
Fishman, Joel S Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2012.
Summary/Abstract The language may be deceptively conciliatory but the meaning of the BDS message is of intransigence. The rhetoric of this movement conceals a programme of 'resistance', a call to destabilize the status quo through unremitting public agitation over a long period. It rejects the premises of the Oslo agreements including the possibility of a negotiated peace with Israel or any form of reconciliation, and its message combines anti-Semitism with anti-Zionism. The movement is all the more dangerous because under the guise of a quest for justice its advocates skilfully conceal the strategic objective of isolating and destroying the Jewish state and perhaps also Jews who individually and collectively identify with the State of Israel.

Bush's America and the new exceptionalism: anti-Americanism, the holocaust and the transatlantic rift / MacDonald, David   Journal Article
Macdonald, David Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2008.
Summary/Abstract This article examines how the USA's growing 'Holocaust consciousness' has impacted on conservative interpretations of the transatlantic rift. Presenting the Holocaust as an antipode to US national identity has helped signal a moral divergence between the USA and Europe. The instrumentalisation of the Holocaust and anti-Semitism has allowed US conservatives to reframe norms of self-defence, victimisation, and liberation in justifying the invasion and occupation of Iraq. In the wake of Iraq claiming anti-Semitism as a 'European disease', and anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism as 'twin brothers', helps delegitimate European criticism of the war on terror. A new form of exceptionalism portrays the USA not only as the liberator of death camps and the protector of the Jewish people but, after 11 September, as a victim itself.

Empire strikes back: propagating AKP’s Ottoman empire narrative on Turkish television / CEvik, Senem B   Journal Article
CEvik, Senem B Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Turkish drama series aired on state network TRT (Turkish Radio and Television) connect Ottoman history with contemporary events in Turkey and have been instrumental agents in the government’s attempts to shape the political reality in accordance with its political agenda. This article examines the narrative cultivated by the popular historical drama Payitaht: Abdülhamid (2017) by using the dramatistic process framework. In doing so, it analyzes the overlapping narrative of historical and contemporary in-groups and out-groups. Payitaht: Abdülhamid recreates the current political divides on screen in Turkey by assigning guilt and redeemer statuses to certain characters in the drama series and by providing a longitudinal perspective of Turkish history. Payitaht: Abdülhamid is, therefore, a political tool used by the ruling AKP (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi [Justice and Development Party]) government to cultivate and propagate a worldview that connects the Ottoman past to contemporary politics. Furthermore, Payitaht: Abdülhamid feeds the existent divisions within Turkey by reinforcing the AKP’s political discourse on key domestic and foreign policy issues and helps to push its agenda to the fore.

Fighting on the front lines: anti-semitism at the university of California and efforts to combat it / Rossman-Benjamin, Tammi   Journal Article
Rossman-Benjamin, Tammi Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2012.
Summary/Abstract Members of Muslim and pro-Palestinian student organizations and anti-Zionist faculty are the two main sources of anti-Jewish bigotry at the University of California (UC), and their behaviour has had two primary effects: the anti-Semitic language and imagery used by these individuals has caused significant harm to the reputation of Israel and its supporters, both on and off campus; and their behaviour has created a hostile and threatening environment for many Jewish students on UC campuses. Efforts to address the problem of anti-Semitism on UC campuses have generally targeted one of these two effects. These efforts have included: the reactive and proactive campaigns of pro-Israel student and faculty groups, as well as attempts to secure the protection of Jewish students from anti-Semitic harassment through legal means and by applying grassroots pressure on UC administrators. Although none of the efforts has led to a substantial reduction of anti-Semitism on UC campuses, a few of the approaches show some promise.

Hitler's children revisited: west German terrorism and the problem of coming to terms with the Nazi past / Musolff, Andreas   Journal Article
Musolff, Andreas Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2011.
Summary/Abstract The origins of West German terrorism are closely linked to post-war Germany's problems of dealing with the National Socialist past. The terrorist groups defined themselves as "antifascist" and accused the Federal Republic of Germany, the USA, and Israel of continuing "imperialist" Nazi policy, which was supposed to justify their "armed struggle." On the other hand, the terrorists themselves have been described as "Hitler's children" in the sense that they had adopted key aspects of National Socialist ideology, including anti-Semitism. The article reviews the evidence for such an assessment in the context of Germany's debates about the legacy of National Socialism.

Is anti-semitism back? / Wasserstein , Bernard   Article
Wasserstein , Bernard Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract A VIRULENT new wave of anti-Semitism is generally believed to be sweeping across Europe. European societies have allegedly become poisonously inhospitable to a Jewish presence. Israel, itself a prime target of the new anti-Semitism, is preparing for large-scale immigration of Jews from the Continent. Europe’s old Adam is supposedly reasserting itself.

Israel: occupier' or 'occupied'? the psycho-political projection of Christian and post-Christian supersessionism / Kaplan, Kalman J; Cantz, Paul   Journal Article
Kaplan, Kalman J Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2014.
Summary/Abstract Political attitudes towards the modern state of Israel are substantially influenced by underlying theological issues in Pauline Christianity regarding ethnic versus spiritual Israel. The very charge of Israel as occupier can be seen as an inverted perception or even a psychological projection emerging from the supersessionist view that the Pauline Church is the New Israel, displacing the Jewish people as God's elect. Hard and soft political charges of Israel as 'occupier' are discussed as are hard and soft claims of theological supersessionism. Dual covenant Christians tend not to espouse the view of Israel as occupier. Finally, these political and theological realms of thinking are linked in an attempt to bring psychological clarity to the peculiar nature of political projection towards the modern state of Israel, among Christians and even post-Christians in the West.

Israel and Azerbaijan: to counteract Iran / Khalifa-zadeh, Mahir   Journal Article
Khalifa-Zadeh, Mahir Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2012.
Summary/Abstract It is well known that Azerbaijan's history does not have any anti-Semitic traditions. And during the time of the Russian and Soviet empires, Azerbaijan was not poisoned by anti-Semitism. Obviously, anti-Semitism has not been an issue in Azerbaijan. Moreover, many famous Jews were born and studied in Azerbaijan. The brilliant scientist of modern physics and Nobel Prize Laureate Lev Landau was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, in 1908 and attended Baku State University in 1922. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the historically close and warm relations between the Jews and Azeris became a solid base for mutual cooperation between the State of Israel and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Both countries have a strategic location but an unfriendly foreign environment, which pushes them to be close and expand cooperation. Azerbaijan and Israel cooperate to counteract or neutralize foreign threats, which is the subject of this paper.

origin of globalized anti-Zionism: a conjuncture of hatreds since the cold war / Sternberg, Ernest   Article
Sternberg, Ernest Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract The primary cause of global anti-Zionism can be found in the convergence of the post-Cold War crisis of Islam, the crisis of the post-communist Left, and Europe's civilizational crisis. Seeking new global visions for radical change, groups with discrepant agendas found solidarity through shared hatred of a fiendish entity, the one on which the alleged depredations of globalized, militarized capitalism could be blamed. Petrodollar and charity funding to defame Israel, media bias meant to do the same, and academic anti-Zionism are secondary phenomena, emanating from this global convergence.

Protests and political violence among Arab Knesset members / Hitman, Gadi; Sinay, Nir   Journal Article
Hitman, Gadi Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract This article seeks to understand the extent of Arab MKs’ involvement in protests and political violence over the past decade. By way of doing so, it will examine this phenomenon in four case studies: Mavi Marmara Flotilla (2010), Operation Pillar of cloud (2012), Operation Protective Edge (2014), and the passing of Israel’s Nation-State law in 2018. The findings reveal that, unlike many other protests in the Arab world, Arab Israeli protest in the examined case studies were neither based on economic inequality nor related to civil society issues but were rather a corollary of nationalist radicalisation. A dangerous trend of anti-Semitism was also detected among Israel’s Arab leaders.

War against the Jews / Karsh, Efraim   Journal Article
Karsh, Efraim Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2012.
Summary/Abstract The sustained anti-Israel de-legitimization campaign is a corollary of the millenarian obsession with the Jews in the Christian and the Muslim worlds. Since Israel is the world's only Jewish state, and since Zionism is the Jewish people's national liberation movement, anti-Zionism - as opposed to criticism of specific Israeli policies or actions - means denial of the Jewish right to national self-determination. Such a discriminatory denial of this basic right to only one nation (and one of the few that can trace their corporate identity and territorial attachment to antiquity) while allowing it to all other groups and communities, however new and tenuous their claim to nationhood, is pure and unadulterated anti-Jewish racism, or anti-Semitism as it is commonly known.
