Summary/Abstract |
The politics of the Southern Asia region is mainly influenced by
the political developments that take place in the two neighbouring
Southern Asian countries, India and Pakistan. However, IndoPak relations have never been stable; rather, they have fluctuated
from acrimony to cooperation and vice versa. Since the partition of
the Indian subcontinent, relations between the two neighbouring
countries have been defined by a host of post-partition political
problems and crises like the border dispute, Kashmir dispute, water
dispute, etc. The emergence of the Cold War politics in the Indian
subcontinent further aggravated the acrimonious relations between
India and Pakistan. The Pakistani leaders have never reconciled the
grievances of the post-partition political problems, especially on
the Kashmir issue; thus, they consider India as the 'biggest threat'
to their existence.
1
Because of this fear psychosis, they joined hands
with the US-led Western military alliance Southeast Asia Treaty
Organisation (SEATO) and Central Treaty Organisation (CENTO),
and manoeuvred Pakistan's policy towards the Muslim countries
to develop 'power parity' with India, if not in economic terms, then
through military technology

Summary/Abstract |
Cricket is the favourite sport throughout South Asia. It can unite and divide polities, both internationally and intra-nationally. The history of bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan has always been closely connected to Indo-Pak relations; when diplomatic relations were at their lowest, the Test series were halted. However when bilateral relations were good enough for matches to be played, they were largely played in good spirit and the positive effects could be felt throughout both countries. Cricket has the ability to work on a multitude of 'tracks' through unofficial meetings with high level leaders, middle ranking elites, the media, business and the common man, to increase communications and break down negative stereotypes across the border.

Summary/Abstract |
The crown of India, the divinely beautiful and immensely strategic state of Jammu and Kashmir since its tumultuous accession to the Indian union in 1947, displayed at times, the pangs of an uneasy existence with the secular, liberal and generous environs of the parent nation. That is abiding emotional integration to Mother India, is still wanting in some spheres, even after 66 years of togetherness, is hardly a tribute to India's and the state's political leadership or governance notwithstanding the countless sacrifices made, monumental aid and resources invested for the security and development of India's restive northernmost state. That India's ever belligerent neighbor, Pakistan has left no stone unturned or any machination in the book to fan separatism in J&K which is considers its jugular vein is hardly surprising. In the globally troubled times of today, Pakistan and some others in the world forget that India is home to the third largest population in the world and thus J&K is not a mere symbol of India's secularism but its prime guarantee.

Summary/Abstract |
Pakistan is likely to remain focused on developing and improving short-range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles to deter India's conventional military superiority despite the second successful test of India's long-range, nuclear-capable Agni-5 missile, experts said in recent interviews.
Although India and Pakistan are nuclear rivals, New Delhi's forays into longer-range missile systems do not seem to be spurring reciprocal developments in Islamabad.

Summary/Abstract |
According to instrumentalist theorists, political conflicts very offen emerged as a sequal to socio-economic and political inequalities "in and between the nations". Conversely, they do not recognise " religions, traditons and cosmologies" as the genuine cause of political conflicts despite the views, the instrumentalists do accept the reality of politicazing religious traditions and radicalization of religious communities by the politicians for political gains particularly in the times of economic decay, social disintegration or or state collapse."

Summary/Abstract |
THE QUEST for improvement in the deeply troubled relationship between the United States (along with its Western allies) and Pakistan focuses largely on Pakistan's role in Afghanistan and on the country's approach to governing. But this quest has not yielded much, and relations between Washington and Islamabad are spiraling downward. Lost in this American struggle to induce change in Pakistani behavior is a fundamental reality-namely, that there probably can't be any significant progress in improving the relationship so long as the India-Pakistan conflict persists. For Pakistanis, that conflict poses an ominous existential challenge that inevitably drives their behavior on all things, including their approach to the West and the war in Afghanistan. But if the India-Pakistan confrontation could be settled, chances for progress on other fronts would be greatly enhanced.
