On 24 February, North Korea's Space Committee confirmed it was preparing to launch a rocket, claimed to be the Unha 2, to place the Kwangmyongsong 2 communication satellite into orbit. On 12 March, Pyongyang informed the International Maritime Organisation that the launch would take place between 4 and 8 April. Satellite imagery obtained by Jane's confirms that North Korea could be ready to launch in a matter of weeks.
