In these times, many phenomena can quickly have ripple effects around the world, while borders keep losing their significance. Today, local problems may turn into global threats in an unbelievably short time. The clash of civilisation scenarios which have become widespread especially after the attacks of -/11 increasingly preoccupy the international community. Turkey has been closely affected by all these developments because of its strategic location straddling three continents, three seas and different cultures.
