Guests from the Institute for Strategic Studies of Monglia, the institute of International Studies of Monglia Academy of Sciences, the Government Agency of Mongolian National Development and Innovation Committee, the National University of Mongolia, the Mongolia Development Institute, the Embassy of Mongolia in China took part in the symposium.

It can be described as a dynamic framework of "One body with two wings", with Chinese Marxism as its as core of guiding principles, and the interrelated spheres of political and economic development the two"wings" which grow from it. China's Model is not static, but the product of a continuous process of development. It represents a unity of opposites, blending national characteristics and international features.

Summary/Abstract The international system has undergone two major transformation in modern history, first from a loose, scattered regional pattern into a centrally unified global structure, then from British to American domination of such a global architecture. A third one is underway. East-West condominium will potentially replace the current US or West-led global order. Based on historical experience, this article attempts to make a forward-looking analysis of the way, direction and form of the unfolding trajectory through exploring the general law governing this process.

Summary/Abstract The United States is the most developed country in the world and the number one energy-importing country. China is the largest developing country and the number two energy-importing country. The energy issue is thus a key issue in Sino-US Relations. The United States has been on bad terms with some energy-rich "problem countries", while the energy cooperation between China and these countries is starting to go well. Sino-US relations now affect the whole world, and China's and the United States relations with these key energy producers-the third party factor may become a major source of competition and conflict between the two powers.

Summary/Abstract The dispatch of Russian troops to South Ossetia demonstrated Russia's determination to rise again and act as a global power. The Russian nation will encounter three contradictions on this path: in terms of the political system, the issue is whether to concentrate central power or practice liberal democracy; in economic development, to rely on the energy industry as pillar of the economy or to optimize the national economic structure; and in diplomatic strategy, to hide capabilities and bide its time or to pursue a harsh line. Resolving these three contradictions will determine whether Russia can fully take its place as a global power.
