Summary/Abstract |
As discussion continues over the need to increase the numbers within Afghanistan's army and police, a new form of ground-level security force is being trialled in Wardak province, neighbouring Kabul.Despite initial negative expectations, the small force has succeeded in gaining a foothold. Should this new approach prove successful, it may be rolled out into other provinces, acting as a template for greater community involvement in providing security.
