Chinese students in Russia: based on materials of sociological survey / Larin, Alexander   Journal Article
Larin, Alexander Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2009.
Summary/Abstract The interest of Chinese young people in studies in Russia is conditioned by the requirement for qualified personnel due to the development of bilateral economic cooperation, and it is also prompted by a comparatively low cost of education. Despite the perceptible atmosphere of xenophobia, Chinese students assess their stay in Russia positively, in the main, and express the desire to work in our country after completing their studies, or, at least, to maintain regular business connections with it. Although most of them do not master Russian well enough, they do not stay jobless. China shows readiness to use the services of Russian institutions of higher learning on a broader scale, but, apparently, they are not prepared for that

Publication 2009.
Summary/Abstract This paper looks at the various aspects of migration going on between Russia's Amur Region and China in our days. The manner in which migration traffic streams in either direction across this section of the two countries' common border does not substantiate the theory of Chinese "demographic expansion." If used wisely, labor coming in from China can become a driving force for the region's development. The scale of Russian migration to China is still unknown to Russian researchers.

Summary/Abstract In the author's view, different interpretations of Taiwanese and PRC historians of the sources of Moscow's financial assistance to the "party army" of Kuomintang in the 1920s are conditioned by their different world and ideological outlooks, and this circumstance should be taken into account while forming one's own argumentation in the course of direct academic discussions. There is documentary evidence of how representatives of the "party army" received cash from the Soviet side, and certain decisions of Moscow concerning the allocation of definite sums of money for supporting Kuom-intang and its armed forces could be traced.
