Summary/Abstract THERE IS AN ONGOING DEBATE about climate change: Is global wanning real or is it a political "construction" invented by a group of countries to win the global economic competition? In March 2010, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced an independent and comprehensive check into the methods and conclusions by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). What is the outlook for the results of the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen (December 2009) now that the main greenhouse gas emitting countries have joined the final Copenhagen Accord1? The conceptual and practical aspects of climate change in light of Russia's national interests were discussed at a roundtable meeting organized by the Center of International Law International Security at the Institute of Contemporary International Studies (ICIS) (Diplomatic Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation - MFA), and the Russian Association of International Law.
