Summary/Abstract All three branches of the Indian armed forces have recently articulated the need to operate beyond the country's immediate borders. While the Indian military is highly unlikely to achieve its more ambitious power projection objectives in the medium term, the conventional wisdom that India's traditional foreign-policy orientation precludes military power projection is untenable, especially for an aspiring regional hegemon.

Summary/Abstract This paper focuses on Taiwan's aid to the Marshall Islands. Three types of Taiwanese aid are discussed: as part of the Marshall Islands trust fund, as part of the Marshall Islands governmental budget, and the Taiwan Technical Mission. While Taiwan's aid plays a role in upgrading agricultural and rural development, it is also embroiled in controversies such as mixed local empowerment and constraints by the Cold War legacy.

Summary/Abstract This study examines the effects of socio-demographic and political factors on district level turnout in the 2005 and 2009 Japanese general elections. Results show that marginality is a strong predictor of turnout, while the effects of age structure, joblessness, and primary sector employment vary across elections.
