Summary/Abstract |
The author looks at the ongoing changes in economic relations between Russia and Vietnam. He points out the objective incentives and difficulties involved. He surveys, in the order of significance, the principal areas of cooperation, from military and technological assistance to trade and services. He also shows the effect of the world financial crisis on Vietnam and its transition to a new economic model and a "marine strategy" of development. The conclusion made in the article is that the two countries are rapidly drawing closer together and overcoming stagnation where it existed in their bilateral cooperation.
