Summary/Abstract On the basis of the documents which the author has found at the State Archives in Vienna and the Archives of Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire at the Foreign Ministry of Russia, the Hungarian scholar of Korean history comes to the conclusion that the energetic actions of Russian diplomats in 1905 thwarted the Japanese plan to transfer Emperor Gojong of Korea to Japan and thus speed up the annexation of Korea by Japan.
