Indian military helicopter fleet / Sachdev, A K   Journal Article
Sachdev, A K Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2014.
Summary/Abstract In terms of size, the Indian armed forces are amongst the largest in the world but in terms of equipment, they are lamentably lagging behind the leading edge of weapon systems and aircraft technology. In the area of military helicopters as well, India is forced to import most of the requirements from foreign vendors while the regulatory framework panders to HAL monopoly. Should the indigenous helicopter design and production capability be untethered from HAL and opened to private enterprise, there would be two advantages. Firstly, the delays and inefficiencies would disappear and secondly, the cost of leading edge technologies and products would reduce not just because of indigenous production, but also because of the possibility of export and economy of scale.

Tactical attack and special operations vehicles / Donaldson, Peter   Journal Article
Donaldson, Peter Journal Article

Publication 2012.
Summary/Abstract The special operations vehicle concept derives from types used by the British SAS and Australian SASR, completely un - armoured vehicles relyingon stealth and speed for protection. Such vehicles allow quick egress for crews, maximum awareness, and ease of weapons use (personal and flexibly - mounted). Recent month and years have been a plethora of new vehicles derived from existing military designs, hijacked from other worlds, such as forestry and extreme off-road motor sport, or design specially for Special Operations Forces (SOF) mossions.
