Checkmate maduro" strategy as the basis for operation gideon / Strigunov, K. ; Manoilo, A   Journal Article

Summary/Abstract IN A previous article,1 we wrote that Venezuelan and possibly Cuban security services might have successfully thwarted Operation Gideon thanks to an information leak from the entourage of Juan Guaidó. On May 3, 2020, Venezuelan troops, security services, and civilians prevented a coup attempt by Venezuelan deserters and American mercenaries hired by the private military company Silvercorp USA, owned by Jordan Goudreau, who incidentally did not take part in that terrorist attack. Two American terrorist mercenaries, Luke Denman and Airan Berry, and at least 47 Venezuelan deserters were taken prisoner. We surmised at that time that the Venezuelan authorities had been tipped off about Operation Gideon by Cuban intelligence agents in the United States, mainly in Florida, where there are comparatively large Cuban and other Latin American immigrant communities. Guaidó had visited Florida accompanied by supporters, who might have a leaked the Operation Gideon plan either accidentally or deliberately, as there might have been people in Guaidó's entourage who had been recruited as agents by Caracas and/or Havana.

Date Palm revolutions: disaster or controlled chaos? / Manoilo, A   Journal Article
Manoilo, A Journal Article

Publication 2011.
Summary/Abstract THERE ARE A NUMBER of noteworthy features in the recent wave of revolutionary events that have swept across North Africa, successfully dismantling an array of political regimes that previously seemed to be absolutely stable and unshakable. First, all of them developed (and in the case of Libya, are continuing to develop) according to the same scenario, or "revolutionary template," very reminiscent of a "color revolution" scenario. Second, "revolutions" in different states of North Africa erupted almost simultaneously, which almost always precludes any element of chance and suggests a high level of coordination (in time) from a "revolutionary center" abroad or the conduct of a special operation thoroughly planned by outside forces.

Operation gideon: a duel between Venezuelan and American intelligence services / Manoilo, A ; Strigunov, K   Journal Article

Summary/Abstract SINCE Donald Trump took office, U.S. pressure on Venezuela has only been growing. Washington is using a vast arsenal of tools to overthrow the legally elected leadership of a sovereign state, stopping short only of direct intervention with massive deployment of U.S. armed forces and those of their allies. Chavistas are holding onto power despite enormous pressure that includes systematic and targeted economic sanctions, the recognition of Juan Guaidó as president (political pressure by way of initiating a "color revolution"), the provoking of mass desertions from the army, and attempts at recruiting agents of influence from within Maduro's circle with the goal of pitting them against each other and weakening them. The attempt to directly eliminate the Venezuelan leader in defiance of all norms of international law is the latest addition to this arsenal.
