The article describes the role of transborder exchanges in the relations between Russia and China in the Far East. Research in this sphere made it possible to analyze the dynamics of migration processes and reveal their reaction to interstate agreements and changes in the legislation of the two countries. Six stages of the transborder migration of the population and their specific features are revealed, and trends of migration processes between the two countries are defined.
