Summary/Abstract |
Diasporas are the human face of the globalization process. The contemporary importance of Diasporas can be related to the seemingly contradictory historical processes of consolidation of national cultural identities and large international migrations. Though the phenomenon of migration is as old as the existence of humanity, international migration on a large scale started during colonial times. Labour demand, political conflicts, technological changes and trade and commerce together, contribute to international migration becoming one the most important determinant of modern global change.
This paper attempts to explain the cross cultural conflicts, trauma, isolation, aspirations and dilemmas of the Indian Women immigrants in Jhumpa Lahiri's The Namesake , especially Aashima Ganguly, who find herself in between the native culture and host culture and her trishanku experience of being neither in Calcutta nor in America which is at the very centre of diasporic trauma. Ashima is a true representative of the majority of women expatriates who are reluctant to change or adapt to the culture of the host country. But still she sacrifices all her comforts for the sake of her family and like the typical traditional Indian women; her life revolves around her husband and children.

Summary/Abstract |
Access to clean, affordable, sustainable energy is thus an enabling factor for economic development and poverty reduction as well as for achievement of internationally agreed development goals, including ensuring environmental sustainability and promoting gender equality. At the same time, access to energy services can be argued to be a human right in itself.

Summary/Abstract |
Classical free trade theory, which originates from Adam Smith's and David Ricardo's theory of comparative advantage, claims that countries specialize in an export what they are relatively good at producing, and they import what they cannot produce sufficiently. Since for example the climate in Germany does not allow for the production of coffee ant since the infrastructure and the technological advancement for the manufacturing of car is not developed in Bolivia, both countries benefits from opening their markets for mutual trade. In theory, free trade is a win-win Situation which everyone benefits.

Summary/Abstract |
With the imperative of energy security assuming salience in all foreign policy considerations, it is significant that the two countries accept the significance of entering into cooperative and mutually beneficial relations. The fact is that aggressive bidding by either party only pushes up the price of the asset to the advantage of the seller and the disadvantage of both bidders.

Summary/Abstract |
The toll of human death and property damage has dramatically increased, far outstripping the coping capacities of the local, national, and even global assistance efforts. Natural disasters thus elicit taking a fresh look at the definition of security itself. Disasters can provide a measure of the preparedness and integrity of the affected society, showing both the adherence by the people to sound building and land use codes and the avoidance by the government of corruption and ineptitude.

Summary/Abstract |
India has had both security and economic interests in the West Asian region, with energy security being a prime factor. Therefore, peace and stability in the region has been crucial to the Indian interests. However, being an emerging power globally, it is imperative that India deals with its significant partners in West Asia on its own terms. Indian foreign policy has seen a shift from ‘Link West’ policy to ‘Act West’ policy by building strong economic and security ties with most of the countries in the Middle East, and valuable defence and security cooperation with the regional actors. It is here that India’s relations with Iran assume importance.

Summary/Abstract |
It is difficult to conjecture which way and how much longer the Indian freedom movement might have swayed, had it not been for the pivotal role so conspicuously played by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of the greatest freedom fighters ever born on the Indian soil. He virtually pushed 'Complete Independence' almost from nowhere onto the center-stage of the Indian freedom struggle and that too on a fast track. Afterwards, he assumed such a catalytic role to expedite the freedom struggle itself up to a close finish, which even his adversaries admired while his other contemporaries enthralled, and with the future generations still left to cherish, and so gloriously to recall.
