Summary/Abstract |
The United States Air Force has returned from its nuclear modernization and intellectual holidays. The B61 Life Extension Program and nuclear capability for the F-35 fighter are at the leading edge of a flight plan that vectors the institution to rebuild the nation's extended deterrent; its two legs of our strategic triad; and nearly all nuclear command, control, and communications infrastructure, to deter emerging nuclear threats and assure allies new and old. This flight plan is framed by new efforts across the cognitive domain of war so that all airmen understand how vastly different twenty-first century deterrence is from the Cold War.

Sun Tzu’s concept of deception in the context of modern warfare is primarily achieved through the fourth domain, the electronic domain. Electronic Warfare (EW) is not exactly new and had been used in World War II where No 100 Group Royal Air Force (RAF) used bombers and heavy fighters to carry out RF interception, jamming and chaffs to degrade the Luftwaffe land-based radars and night fighters.

Summary/Abstract |
Due to its long gestation period, infrastructure needs advance and integrated planning amongst the three services and civil agencies to ensure that the end result is cost-effective without duplication of effort and investment. Some of the measures suggested may be somewhat radical, but after over six decades since Independence, the nation expects results. A sound and secure infrastructure will enable the IAF to undertake its tasks in the most effective manner and thus become a force multiplier in the days to come.

Summary/Abstract |
To ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific, the United States Air Force (USAF) must
maintain its ability to freely operate in international airspace and project force
forward to deter aggression. Future improvements to antiaccess/area-denial (A2/
AD) systems will certainly include artificial intelligence (AI). AI is a strategic
priority of our adversaries, as it can provide significant benefits for national defense. The USAF must be prepared to tackle these technical challenges to uphold
our regional commitments and protect international interests in the IndoPacific. Three specific applications relevant to A2/AD are (1) target recognition
from multiple fused data sources, (2) improved war gaming with agent-based
models, and (3) blockchain-enabled autonomous systems. This article will introduce how these technologies might be integrated into future A2/AD systems and
recommend some strategies for addressing and overcoming these challenges.

This article reviews Joseph Jockel’s classic study of bilateral Canadian–American defence arrangements during the early Cold War: No Boundaries Upstairs. It considers the political context in which Jockel wrote and highlights the bilateral experiences that contributed to his unique perspective. It also reviews Jockel’s account and analysis of the evolution of Canadian–American continental defence cooperation from 1945 to 1958. Finally, this article describes the longevity of Jockel’s analysis as well as how historians and political scientists continue to build on his research.

"Bright Horizons" is the United States Air Force's new strategic roadmap for management and development of its military members and civilian employees who are scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians. The roadmap has been approved and signed by the Air Force Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Air Force and was published in 2011. It has its origins in a 2010 report from the National Research Council titled "Examination of the United States Air Force's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Workforce Needs in the Future and Its Strategy to Meet Those Needs."
