Summary/Abstract |
A close examination of the turbulence and frustrations evident in the northeast would indicate that the northeastern insurgency has to be tackled with political prudence. This would be possible only if the centre and the northeastern states evolve a two-point agenda to solve the problem. Such an approach involves both: negotiations with the various extremist outfits and simultaneously ensuring adequate socio-economic development of diverse ethnic groups, political and economic advancements, reductions in unemployment and underemployment, land reforms, transparent governance, and inclusionary conditions for minority political participation.

The 21st century is witnessing a substantial re-engagement of India and Africa. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a state visit to three African countries (Rwanda, Uganda, and South Africa) in 2018, and concluded his tour by attending a two-day summit in Johannesburg with the other BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, China, and South Africa. During this tour he has also unfolded Ten Guiding Principles for India-Africa relations.

Summary/Abstract |
The art of conducting the foreign affairs of a country lies in securing the national interest of the country or if put in simple words it is the method of investigating what is most advantageous to the country in the long run. However when the country has to formulate its policies towards its immediate neighbours, it is often seen that the concern for the border security is prioritized over all other considerations.

Summary/Abstract |
The current international order has been marked by two trends essentially. The first is the resurgent right wing nationalism, ultra-nationalist populisms in countries like Russia, India, Turkey, Hungary, Egypt, Philippines, and now in the United States and in most of the cases leading to authoritarian rule. The Brexit vote and the rise of right wing parties in Europe also point to a similar trend in the global politics and the contemporary international order.

Summary/Abstract |
India as an emerging regional economic power in Asia is on the brink of assuming political leadership to preserve peace and stability in the region. This aspiration however, has not fructified due to India's complex and frosty relationships with its South Asian neighbours. Geopolitically India is surrounded by weak states that pose grim challenges to its national security as well as to its aspirations to emerge as a regional power and a global player in the international politics. Nevertheless, it is the only country in the region which can bear the liability of steering the area to the path of political stability and socio-economic development.

Summary/Abstract |
In the contemporary era the concept of nation is no longer intricately connected to a specific area of the globe inhabited by a particular community; as an idea it has become fluid, malleable, and unpredictable than ever before. Unlike the world map of states-with its clearly demarcated, contiguous, and fairly stable, homogenous units-the world map of nations is imagined as made up of units that spill over state borders, overlap each other, and are continually pushing for their own, exclusive national space.
