Summary/Abstract Argentine Vice-President Amado Boudou on 2 February responded to recent developments in the Argentina-UK territorial dispute over the Falklands Islands (Malvinas) by asserting that "British colonialism is a shame for humanity". That statement came on the day that Prince William, second in line to the UK throne, arrived in the South Atlantic islands to begin a six-week tour of duty as a rescue helicopter pilot, and only two days after the UK had announced the deployment of a Type-45 destroyer to the area. Both of those actions have been presented by the UK authorities as "routine". If that is the case, it has not been perceived that way in Argentina, where a range of political figures from both government and opposition have condemned the UK moves as bellicose and threatening.
