Summary/Abstract

The 6th World Forum on China Studies (shijie zhongguo luntari) was held in Shanghai on November 20-21, 2015. It was devoted to the subject "Chinese reforms - chances for the world." The Forum was attended by about 230 Chinese and foreign scholars, all in all, there were more than 700 people present. The Forum was initiated by the PRC State Council Information Office and Shanghai Municipal People's Government and organized by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government.

Summary/Abstract

The article deals with the CPC CC's resolution on policy in the area of culture, aimed at overcoming its earlier one-sided attention to problems of economic development. The long-term strategy of creating a "mighty cultural state" associates the internal cohesion of Chinese society with raising its international influence, increasing the potential of "soft power," and expanding the presence of China's cultural product on the world market.

Summary/Abstract

The article examines the main development trends in the study of Chinese philosophy and religion in Russia in the 1990s. Among the major trends mention should be made of the creation of encyclopedic reference publications, the study of the influence of Chinese philosophy on the formation of the image of Chinese civilization, investigation of the modern role of Confucianism, and revelation of the specific features of the theoretical and methodological foundations of traditional Chinese thinking.
