The article deals with the CPC CC's resolution on policy in the area of culture, aimed at overcoming its earlier one-sided attention to problems of economic development. The long-term strategy of creating a "mighty cultural state" associates the internal cohesion of Chinese society with raising its international influence, increasing the potential of "soft power," and expanding the presence of China's cultural product on the world market.
