23 years of climate change negotiations: a saga of flickering hope amid lingering divisions

Summary/Abstract
Over the decades, climate change has emerged as an established wisdom of contemporary times. This has happened merely in the span of last three decades. Prior history of the science of climate change was full with controversy and debate. When at the turn of the nineteenth century the Swedish chemist Svante Arhenius (1896) proposed this hypothesis for the first time that man-induced carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of earth would lead to an increase in surface temperature through the greenhouse effect, not many took him seriously. To believe that the climate of earth was changing at a pace and scale far greater than the routine characteristic change forming part of the geological history of earth was too farfetched a contention at that time. For about next half a century as a result of some evidence it came generally to be agreed upon that some sort of climate change was happening but it still remained largely unclear whether this change had been happening in the direction of global cooling or that of global warming.

China factor in Indo-Maldivian relations

2014.
Summary/Abstract
Present paper makes an assessment of Indo-Maldives relationship with special emphasis on China factor in last two years. It is argued that since the controversial ouster of Mohamed Nasheed in Febuary 2012 Maldives' relationship with India has deteriorated in comparison to the previous three decades of constructive engagement. While political instability in Maldives has been a result of the clash of historical and social forces with the new democratic experiment launched in 2008, its fallout for India has come in the form of making latter's negative invocation in domestic political discourse by the rival elites.

2013.
Summary/Abstract
As India EU ties entered into the golden jubilee in 2013 new themes have enriched the old bond. EU as an international actor has matured, expanded and reciprocated to the rise of India in 21st century world. EU is not only an economic actor but has a considerable appeal and an imperceptible process to fashion that appeal into something of an EU response and EU identity upon the member states and in that sense a Trans- Westphalian Actor.
