Summary/Abstract TODAY, amid accelerated globalization and the informatization of society, one of the most urgent tasks for states is to form a positive obraz [image, figure, representation - Trans.] and increase competitiveness in the international arena. Like any other country, Russia strives for recognition in the world. However, the approaches to the development of our country's foreign policy image have varied significantly at various stages of the country's development. In this regard, study of the peculiarities of the evolution of the concept of a country's imidzh [a Western borrowing that has a more restricted usage in the fields of politics and public relations - Trans.], its content, and methods of formation, is of particular interest.

Summary/Abstract ACCORDING to many of our international relations experts, a presidential decree to approve a new edition of the Foreign Policy Concept of Russia will be one of the most significant developments of 2022. It will be the sixth doctrinal document in our country's recent history: Previous versions of the key diplomatic "manifesto" were issued in 1993, 2000, 2008, 2013, and 2016. The media treat them as routine events when in fact they offer us a unique opportunity to trace all transformations in the foreign policy thinking of the country's leaders and to analyze the events and trends of the last 30 years. The response to the latter has determined the nature and substance of the conceptual foundations of Russia's foreign policy. More than 30 years have passed since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. The new generation that grew up, studied at, and graduated from institutions of higher education knows next to nothing about the Soviet superpower, bipolar confrontation, socialist internationalism, and games with "inter-imperialist" contradictions. The system of Russia's foreign policy priorities has been broken, reestablished, and altered several

Kazakhstan’s security policy: steady as she goes? / Haasa, Marcel De   Article
Haasa, Marcel De Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract This article analyzes Kazakhstan’s security policy, in particular its main security documents: the Law on National Security, the Military Doctrine, and the Foreign Policy Concept. What does the practical application of these concepts, particularly toward the big actors Russia and China and to international organizations, tell us about Kazakh security policy? Overall, the conceptualized policy is largely reflected in practice. The biggest exceptions are found in the implementation of policy toward Russia. The pressure and possible threats of interference from Moscow form a hindrance for a fully independent foreign security policy by Astana. Furthermore, not military/security related measures but the implementation of political and social-economic reforms is essential to ensure the national security of Kazakhstan.

0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2012.
Summary/Abstract State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation International Affairs: Grigory Borisovich, relations with the CIS countries are an invariable priority of Russian foreign policy. Is it now possible to talk of political, economic or humanitarian breakthroughs in cooperation reaching a higher level of interaction with the states in the post-Soviet space? G Karasin: The basic concept of Russia's relations with its immediate neighbors - I mean primarily the states of the post-Soviet space and integration associations involving Russia - has a long history. It's been an absolute priority of Russian foreign policy to foster bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the states within the CIS space. This postulate is enshrined in the Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation. For us, it's not just words. The CIS countries are our closest, strategic partners. We have common objectives on promoting societal development, modernizing our economies, combating new threats and challenges, and achieving a more equitable world order.
