Summary/Abstract |
The current international political and economic order was mainly established after the WWII. It has been seriously challenged by the changing international landscape particularly since the beginning of the 21st century. In addition, quantitative changes have taken place in the balance of power between developed and developing countries. The establishment of the mechanism of cooperation among the BRICS countries is increasingly posing a challenge to the traditional monopoly of advanced countries in world economic, political and governance systems. The inception, growth and strengthening of the BRICS was necessitated by international developments and reflects the desire of emerging countries to reform the unfair international political and economic order. As the current situation continues to evolve, the BRICS will lead emerging markets in reshaping the international landscape.

Summary/Abstract |
Since last year, some new changes have taken place in the situation of Sub-Saharan Africa (hereinafter referred to as SSA). The overall political stability has turned for the better, economy has maintained rapid growth, the integration process is steadily moving ahead and its international standing has been remarkably enhanced. However, the various challenges and uncertain factors the region faces should not be neglected. Along with the successful convocation of the 5th ministerial meeting of China-Africa Cooperation Forum (CACF), the all-round pragmatic cooperation in the political, economic and cultural fields between China and Africa is moving ahead on a solid basis. A new-type China-Africa strategic partnership is facing new development opportunities.

Summary/Abstract |
The arrangements reached at the Doha UN Climate Change Conference for the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol are the most important and essential results of the Doha Conference. China played a positive and constructive role. As a preliminary effort to tackle climate change, the Kyoto Protocol system is limited in effect, hence facing an uncertain future. Nevertheless, it is a building block for a future emissions reduction regime.

Summary/Abstract |
The principal aspect of the contradiction in building a new type of major-country relationship between China and the U.S. is on the U.S. side. The "ball" is in the US court. So long as the U.S. can make efforts in the same direction as China does, there is hope. Otherwise, the same situation "you are either with us or against us" will remain. Twists and turns or even tension might emerge in Sino-U.S. relationship from time to time.
