Summary/Abstract Ever since the US lifted a six year arms embargo against Indonesia following a political settlement in the Aceh province ending years of repressive rule and human rights abuse, Indonesia has become the most sought after country in south east Asia for defence sales. As several of its neighbours have either reached a saturation point in defence purchases or are facing budgetary constraints, Jakarta is looking to modernize its armed forces by inducting new weapons and improving its command and control systems besides training and simulation.
