Summary/Abstract As targets increasingly hide among civilians, a new generation of diminutive air launched precision munitions weighing 2.3-18 kg is emerging. While much of the focus is on arming smaller UAVs, there is a drive for all combat aircraft to be able to engage small groups on foot or in cars or sheltering in buildings while minimizing the risk of collateral damage.

Summary/Abstract Even through it has a claim to the title of most complete military service in the world, the USMC increasingly operates as part of joint or coalition forces, which is unlikely to changes as its focus shifts towards the Pacific. It is in this context that the crops is cooperating with the US army in the joint cooperative target identification ground (JCTI-G) programme, an on going effort that has recently been focused on reducing fratricide among dismounts and from air to ground fires. It is also in this spirit that is participates in the multi national NATO sponsored bold quest series of war fighting experiments that enable testing of new combat ID (CID) approaches.
