The article presents information on the growing demand of Military Ground Surveillance Radar (GSR) across the world. One of the most avid users of GSR apparatus is the U.S. Army that has used the AN/PPS-5 GSR, which offer 10km detection range. It is stated that Israel currently has an existential GSR requirement to equip its troops.

What does the future hold for soldier-carried power? Based on the evolution of soldier systems to date, it is unlikely that the technology of any single nation, let alone international initiatives, is likely to settle on a single solution. Faced with the wide variety of theatres in which soldier operate, no single solution wil be able to cater for all combinations of fuel, sunshine, vehicles and equipment used. What solutions are available.
