Description 391-399
Summary/Abstract Ghanaians went to the polls twice in December 2000, for the third time since democracy was restored to the country in 1992, to elect a new parliament and President. International observers were invited by the Ghanaian government, for the third consecutive time, to monitor the elections. All these observers were provided by the British government under the auspices of a United Kingdom Mission. After an inconclusive outcome to the Presidential vote, a Run-Off became necessary. The following observations are based exclusively on the Run-Off. An analysis of the election result, and recommendations for the future improvements, is also included.
