Summary/Abstract |
First and foremost, we must recognize that the decade we are currently living in is one of the most crucial in human history. Whether or if we have a future depends on what we do now. According to Ban Ki-moon science is more irreversible than ever: climate change is occurring.’ The proof can be found all around us. We will see catastrophic effects if we do nothing, increasing sea levels, droughts, and starvation are just a few examples, as well as the annihilation of up to a quarter of all flora and fauna on the planet.

Summary/Abstract |
Although there are positive signs of a big power playing an important and responsible role in a war ravaged country in its aftermath, China's foray in Afghanistan reflects that it is walking a diplomatic tightrope in Afghanistan. It is trying hard to maintain a silent but highly strategic presence in the country while at the same time managing its relations with other actors present in Afghanistan. However, as the date of US-NATO exit plan by the end of 2014 approaches; the politics between various domestic, regional, and international actors get surcharged.

Summary/Abstract |
The US will promote an Indo-Pacific region that is “free and open,” which includes investment in democratic institutions, a free press, and robust civil society, as well as ensuring the region’s seas and skies are regulated and used by international law. Second, the collective capability is “linked” through alliances, organisations, and norms that deepen relationships with major regional partners. Third, “Prosperous” refers to investments that promote innovation, increase economic competitiveness, create well-paying jobs, reconstruct supply networks, and broaden economic prospects.
