Henelito A Sevilla analyses the genesis of the confl ict in Syria and how and why the internal crisis became internationalised. He argues that the civil war is increasingly being driven and overshadowed by geostrategic competition among other regional and extra-regional powers, which has given it the complexion of an intractable proxy war.
