At present the direction and content of civilization process is characterized by a significant updating of religious sentiment, which suggests a single confessional-civilizational discourse. Such discourses may have special capabilities to optimize and diversify approaches to forecasting and planning of political process, depending on various regional characteristics.

| Summary/Abstract |
While many people regard piracy as something daring and magical, as depicted in Hollywood movies, the reality is that piracy is a real and evergrowing threat to seafarers in many maritime arenas. One of the most important but least understood impacts of piracy is its financial cost and it is a critical maritime security threat in the world. While in ancient times, the main drivers of piracy were raiding for plunder and capture of slaves, in the modern era, economic, military, political and even technological developments have drastically altered its character. There are diverse motives behind modern day piracy ranging from economic gains through ransoms to political advantages and even terrorism. States have taken steps at the international as well as regional level to combat piracy including through legal frameworks. This paper examines the adequacy of the measures and discusses the current challenges to the implementation of anti-piracy norms.

| Summary/Abstract |
The expression ‘Indo-Pacific’ is currently being used in three different ways
by the Americans. ‘Indo-Pacific’ is essentially used to mean the eastern Indian
Ocean as well as the Pacific Ocean which is the US Pacific Command’s
(PACOM) area of operation. The ‘Asia-Pacific’, on the other hand, is taken
to mean South-east Asia and East Asia along with the Pacific Ocean which is
also, broadly speaking, the PACOM’s area of responsibility even as it includes
continental landmass and populations which remain an important focus of US
policy of creating a security system in this vast area. ‘Indo-Asia-Pacific’, yet
another phrase, is a mix of the above two expressions which includes the
oceanic waters as well as the East Asian landmass. The use of ‘Indo’ in these
expressions also reflects the US desire to involve India in the maintenance of
the strategic stability in the area mentioned

| Summary/Abstract |
This study investigates the effects of spatial interactions on local wages based on a panel data from 31 Chinese provinces between 2001 and 2010. Using the Global Moran's I statistic, we provide empirical evidence for the presence of spatial dependencies in provincial wages. Then, we estimate the provincial wage equation using a spatial panel model that controls for spatial heterogeneity and spatial interdependence as well as other regional characteristics. The empirical results show that spatial wage spillover plays an important role in the determination of local wages. Furthermore, we find that human capital and economic growth are two underlying forces strengthening wage spillovers across provinces.
