The article examines durability and design of explosion resistant wheels that allows military vehicles to survive landmine explosions and still have mobility. Topics discussed include the origin and development of explosion-resistant wheels, comparison between internally-supported wheels to high-safety pneumatic tires, breakthroughs in polymer chemistry that impact tire and wheel designs resistant to mechanical damage and performance. It recommends reinforced wheels instead.
