Dry-docking of a ship at regular intervals of time, for maintenance, is the key to ensure sea- worthiness and a long life of the ship. in dry- docking, the ship is lifted out of the water and the hull of the ship below the waterline, is exposed for survey and repairs. SOLAS requirements and Classification Society rules ake it mandatory for a ship to be dry-docked at particular intervals. Traditionally, the ships have usually been docked using one of the following concepts:
