Summary/Abstract |
In Hangu, a town where sectarian sentiment simmers when it does not overtly explode, is a roadside restaurant where travelers bound for Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram Agency, stop to snack. Its name, Alamdar Restaurant, is a glittering mosaic of mirror work etched into a high wall around a vast compound. A massive flag-the alam flutters at its entrance; people reverently kiss or touch its red fabric before stepping inside.
