As jubilant supporters of what was once a fringe Hindu nationalist party celebrated result of a nine-week election marathon, there was arguably some element of incongruity in the scenario. Holding face-masks of the controversial Narendra Modi (NaMo) and waving saffron symbols of lotus flowers were not merely members of the Sangh parivaar or hardline Hindu nationalist, but also young, liberal Indians as if rejoicing a crucial cricket victory.
