Most travellers from India’s international airports would be used to the sight of a bright red space-age looking vehicle with flashing lights waiting near the runway as aircraft take-off and land. These specialist vehicles belong to the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) teams at these airports, whose highly trained teams and their state-of-the-art Aircraft Crash Fire Tenders (ACFT), are the first to reach any accident site involving an aircraft, within the airport premises
