Government of India has undertaken a two pronged approach to cater to the energy demands of its citizens while ensuring minimum increase in energy imports and in CO2 emissions. On the generation side, the government promoting greater use of renewables in the energy mix, and shifting towards supercritical technologies for coal-based power plants.
