India has a history of 5,000 years provided us with epics, puranas, and scores of other historical narratives serving as the most effective frame of reference to our traditions and knowledge in the conduct of diplomacy. India’s peaceful outlook and cooperative approach towards her neighbours was a unique feature bearing testimony to India’s age-old policy of nurturing friendly relations on the lines of equality and forward looking, without evoking the memories of imperialism.
