Dolgov, K Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract HUMAN RIGHTS is truly an area for broad-based international cooperation. The international community has achieved much in this regard over the last fifty years. It has agreed on universal standards and criteria for all states. It has put in place a number of mechanisms of cooperation in comparing notes and tackling specific problems. I would like to mention the United Nations' key contribution to this process.

Dolgov, K Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract UNFORTUNATELY, it has to be said that the problem of impunity remains highly relevant in Ukraine. Having come to power in an unconstitutional manner, Ukraine's ruling regime is seeking to ensure its further survival largely by illegal methods. As a result, the humanitarian and human rights situation in Ukraine remains serious.

Madness or enlightenment: the life or death of humankind / Dolgov, K   Journal Article
Dolgov, K Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract THE OBSERVABLE HISTORY of humankind shows that it has on many occasions, for intrinsic or extrinsic reasons, teetered on the brink of destruction - and the same holds true for all living things and the planet itself. Long before the advent of the Apocalypse, people have feared for their lives and the fate of the Earth. Scientists have identified several such periods in history (like the extinction of the dinosaurs) when there could have been universal catastrophe. Now scientists acknowledge that we have entered a sixth period (starting in 1945, when nuclear weapons appeared and were used, and the Anthropocene era began).

Official diplomacy and peacekeeping efforts of religious organizations / Dolgov, K   Journal Article
Dolgov, K Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Author: K. Dolgov TODAY'S INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS are characterized by mounting unpredictability and instability and the rapidly growing risks of deepening inter-civilizational, intercultural and interreligious divides. A number of experts on international issues note that there is reason to talk about a global crisis of religious freedoms. In substantiation of this, they refer to the sad statistics of Christianophobia that, according to human rights advocates, exists in 139 countries. Islamophobia exists in 121 countries. The level of anti-Semitism in the world shows no signs of abating. On the contrary, in recent years, the situation has deteriorated everywhere. And most disturbingly, the understanding that respect for religion and religious freedoms is critical for the normal development and prosperity of human communities seems to be weakening in the world at large, in particular in Europe and the United States.

On Pope Francis' addresses / Dolgov, K   Journal Article
Dolgov, K Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract THE HISTORY OF MANKIND is brimming with armed conflicts and wars, the biggest and the bloodiest of them taking place in the nineteenth and especially twentieth centuries: two world wars, to say nothing of revolutions and civil wars, claimed tens of millions of lives. Tragedies continue in the twenty-first century. Many of us are convinced that we are living in the end time, the time of Apocalypses and that the dreams about perpetual peace (of which Immanuel Kant had written with a great deal of enthusiasm) were swallowed up by Lethe. The recent events - the wars in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Chechnya, Syria and elsewhere together with the "color" revolutions of all sorts and the civil war in Ukraine - are ample evidence that the hopes for universal peace are steadily shrinking.
