India’s Expanding Outreach in the Indo-Pacific: Quest for Peace, Cooperation and Progress / Chakraborty, Mohor   Journal Article
Chakraborty, Mohor Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract India’s geo-strategic location in the Indo-Pacific region, coupled with its aspirations to emerge as a ‘net security provider’ and ‘first responder’ in the maritime sphere has enhanced its regional responsibility and littoral outreach. New Delhi’s Indo-Pacific vision is positive, inclusive and developmental in nature, extent and scope, underscoring the freedom and openness of the littorals, premised on the tenet of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) centrality and unity. With the ‘Look East’, ‘Act East’, Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) and Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR) initiatives forming the bulwark of India’s Indo-Pacific vision, it converges with the ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific (IPOI).

Chakraborty, Mohor Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract In the recent past, China’s ascendance in the world promenade has been spectacular and phenomenal. The ‘rise’ of China has been a prominent focus of global discourse and contemplation. It is in this backdrop that, India’s concerns vis-a-vis its mammoth neighbour has gained currency. Although clichéd it may appear, it is indubitable that New Delhi’s policy obsession with Beijing assumed heightened proportions, particularly in the United Progressive Alliance/UPA-II phase of governance (May 2009-May 2014).
